Overview
Continental Device India Ltd (CDIL) is one of India's oldest semiconductor manufacturers, founded in 1964 and a long-standing supplier to ISRO, the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, HAL and BEL. Its Mohali (SAS Nagar), Punjab plant produces high-power discrete devices -- power MOSFETs, IGBTs, Schottky bypass diodes and transistors -- in both silicon and silicon carbide; CDIL became India's first silicon-carbide components manufacturer, beginning SiC production in September 2023. A brownfield expansion of the Mohali facility was approved under the India Semiconductor Mission / SPECS in the four-unit batch cleared by the Union Cabinet on 12 August 2025, lifting installed capacity from about 600 million to over 760 million units per year and adding new SMA and SMB package lines for auto-grade power devices.
