Originally built by Fujitsu in the early 1990s, this 310,000 sqft fab in County Durham was operated by Coherent until September 2024, when the UK Ministry of Defence purchased it for £20 million, renaming it Octric Semiconductors UK. The MoD has committed a further £200 million to expand its GaAs and GaN chip capabilities for defence electronics.
