Overview

An integrated compound-semiconductor fabrication and ATMP (assembly, testing, marking and packaging) facility being built by Crystal Matrix Limited at the Dholera Special Investment Region, Gujarat -- India's first commercial mini-LED and micro-LED display manufacturing plant, approved under the India Semiconductor Mission in May 2026. The fab will produce 6-inch (150mm) gallium-nitride (GaN) micro-LED/mini-LED and AlGaInP LED epiwafers and package them into CoB/CoG display modules, with a planned annual capacity of about 72,000 square metres of display panels plus 24,000 RGB epiwafer sets. End applications include smart televisions, smartphones, tablets, in-car displays, smartwatches and extended-reality glasses. Total investment is about US$336 million (~Rs 3,200 crore), and technology is being developed with partners Lumens and Soft-Epi. The first micro-LED screens are targeted to roll out roughly 22 months after the May 2026 approval (around 2028). Key facility details include: The facility is situated at Dholera Special Investment Region, Gujarat, India. It focuses on Compound Semiconductor, Photonics / Optical, Assembly & Packaging on 150mm wafers. This site represents an estimated investment of $0.336B.
