Overview
IHP (Leibniz Institute for High Performance Microelectronics) operates a SiGe BiCMOS wafer fab in Frankfurt (Oder) offering Multi-Project Wafer (MPW) and engineering-run foundry services for ASIC customer designs. The Frankfurt (Oder) site broke ground in 1981 under the East German Academy of Sciences and was formally established as the Institute for Semiconductor Physics (predecessor to IHP) on December 22, 1983. The 8-inch (200mm) pilot line offers 0.25um and 0.13um SiGe:C BiCMOS technologies, with SiGe heterojunction bipolar transistors qualified at 500 GHz fmax and devices reaching up to 700 GHz fmax under development.
