Overview

King Yuan Electronics Co., Ltd. (KYEC, TWSE 2449) is a Taiwanese outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) company and the world's largest pure-play semiconductor IC testing provider. Founded in May 1987, it is headquartered in Hsinchu City (near Gongdao 5th Road) and runs its main testing factories in Miaoli County (the Chunan/Zhunan, Tongluo and Toufen sites) plus a plant in Yangmei, Taoyuan. KYEC offers the full back-end test flow -- wafer probing (CP), final test (FT), burn-in and system-level test (SLT) -- operating over 5,900 test systems, and has become a key tester of high-end AI/HPC chips (GPUs, ASICs, CPUs). The company reports probe (CP) throughput on the order of 350,000 twelve-inch wafers per month and final-test throughput of roughly 350 million ICs per month, and has been expanding overseas (a Singapore facility and a planned U.S. plant). As a pure-play test house it has no wafer-fab process node; the probe figure is a test-throughput metric rather than fab wafer starts, and per-facility monthly wafer capacity and plant cost as fab metrics are not disclosed. Key facility details include: The facility is situated at Main test facilities in Zhunan (Chunan), Tongluo and Toufen, Miaoli County; HQ near Gongdao 5th Rd., Hsinchu City; additional plant in Yangmei, Taoyuan, Taiwan. It focuses on Assembly & Packaging. Production at this facility commenced in 1987.
