Overview
NXP's Oak Hill fab in southwest Austin is the former Motorola MOS 11, built in 1991 for $1.5 billion as the world's first factory to process eight-inch (200mm) wafers and the first to run a Class 1 cleanroom for commercial production; it later built PowerPC microprocessors and passed to Freescale and then NXP. NXP listed the 155-acre, 1.5 million sq ft Oak Hill campus for sale in December 2025 as part of its decade-long shift of 200mm production to 300mm.
