Overview
Qorvo's Richardson, Texas wafer fab produces GaAs and GaN-on-silicon RF components alongside bulk acoustic wave (BAW) filters on 150mm and 200mm lines, serving as the company's Texas operations hub for mobile, infrastructure, and defense products. The plant was built for the TwinStar Semiconductor DRAM joint venture of Texas Instruments and Hitachi, which began operations in 1996; Micron took it over with TI's memory business, and TriQuint Semiconductor purchased the facility (48,500 sq ft of Class 1 cleanroom) from Micron for $87 million on August 30, 2000, converting it to compound semiconductor production.
