Rapidus IIM-1 (Innovative Integration for Manufacturing) in Chitose, Hokkaido is Japan's flagship leading-edge logic project, developing 2nm gate-all-around (GAA) technology with IBM and imec. A roughly 5-trillion-yen buildout, it installed Japan's first EUV lithography system (an ASML NXE:3800E) in December 2024 and started its 2nm pilot line in April 2025, with volume production targeted for 2027.
