Overview
SK keyfoundry's specialty analog and mixed-signal 8-inch foundry in Cheongju, Chungcheongbuk-do, South Korea. The fab was Magnachip's 'Fab 4' -- 'the larger of the Company's two 8-inch manufacturing facilities' -- carved out and sold in September 2020 to a special-purpose company (led by Alchemist Capital Partners Korea and Credian Partners, with SK hynix and the Korean Federation of Community Credit Cooperatives as limited partners) for about US$435 million, forming Key Foundry. SK hynix took full ownership, making it a subsidiary in August 2022, and the company was renamed 'SK keyfoundry' in 2024. It has a capacity of about 100,000 8-inch wafers per month and produces mixed-signal and analog chips -- display driver ICs (DDI), microcontrollers (MCU) and power ICs -- specialising in HV BCD (bipolar-CMOS-DMOS) foundry processes, with GaN and SiC processes in development.
