Overview
SK Siltron, the SK Group's silicon wafer manufacturer and the world's third-largest 300mm wafer supplier, operates its wafer plants in Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province, South Korea, producing 200mm and 300mm semiconductor silicon wafers. The company was founded in 1983 as Kosil (a Dongbu Group/Monsanto venture), renamed LG Siltron in 1990, and acquired by SK Holdings in 2017. A new plant in the Gumi 3rd Industrial Complex, a KRW 2.3 trillion investment launched in 2022 with one crystal-growing (G3) and one polishing (P3) building, finished construction in December 2025 and began ramping 300mm production in July 2026, lifting the company's 300mm capacity by roughly half.
