Overview

The United Test and Assembly Center (UTAC Group) is a Singapore-headquartered outsourced semiconductor assembly and test (OSAT) provider and one of the larger independent back-end houses worldwide. It was founded in 1997 by Inderjit Singh and commenced full operations in 1999 by acquiring the semiconductor test operations of Fujitsu Microelectronics Asia. UTAC provides end-to-end assembly and test services across memory, mixed-signal/RF and logic integrated circuits, spanning wafer-level packaging, laminate and leadframe packages, system-in-package (SiP) integration, MEMS and sensors, and power devices. The group operates around ten manufacturing facilities (over 478,000 square metres of floor space) from strategic sites in Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, China and Malaysia. As a back-end assembly and test operation it has no wafer-fab process node; per-facility monthly wafer capacity is not a fab metric and plant cost is not disclosed.
