WIN Semiconductors is the world's largest pure-play compound semiconductor foundry (~65% GaAs market share). Operates four 150mm (6-inch) GaAs/GaN fabs at Hwaya Technology Park, Taoyuan. Processes: HBT, pHEMT, BiHEMT for RF, 5G, optical and defense applications. ~3,500 employees. Founded in October 1999 by former Lucent, Philips and TRW engineers, WIN opened its first 6-inch GaAs fab in Taoyuan in 2000 as the world's first pure-play 6-inch GaAs foundry, and later added its Fab C building, which began volume 150mm production in May 2016.
