Overview
Microchip's Lawrence, Massachusetts facility, at 6 Lake Street, is one of the 'several smaller wafer fabrication facilities' Microchip's own FY2026 10-K says it acquired through prior acquisitions and continues operating with modest investment. Housed in a converted 1910 Arlington Mills textile building, it has hosted semiconductor manufacturers since the 1990s; Microsemi purchased the property in 2008, and Microchip inherited it in its May 2018, roughly $10 billion acquisition of Microsemi. The 160,000 sq ft site does clean-room wafer fabrication plus assembly, packaging and Hi-Rel electrical/environmental testing of military and aerospace semiconductors (MIL-PRF-19500 qualified), and supplies wafers to Microchip's Ennis, Ireland screening and reliability-test facility. Per Microchip's own "Manufacturing: The Microchip Advantage" overview document (dated July 2021), the Lawrence fab runs 3-inch and 4-inch wafers at a minimum 1000nm (1 micron) node with roughly 2,000 wafers/month capacity, figures describing a decades-old legacy Hi-Rel line that are unlikely to have moved materially since, though the source predates this document's 2021 date and has not been independently re-confirmed as of 2026. Key facility details include: The facility is situated at 6 Lake Street, Lawrence, MA 01841, USA. It focuses on Analog / Power and 1000 process nodes on 75mm, 100mm wafers. This site represents a production capacity of 2,000 wafers per month.
