Overview
SkyWater's proposed roughly US$1.8 billion semiconductor fab in the Discovery Park District at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana was announced in 2022 in partnership with the State of Indiana and Purdue. SkyWater subsequently withdrew from the project, stating it had no definitive plan to build a new fab in Indiana. The Purdue research-park site was later taken up by SK Hynix for a separate advanced-packaging fab. Key facility details include: The facility is situated at West Lafayette, Indiana, USA. It focuses on Assembly & Packaging, Automotive / Specialty and 90, 130 process nodes on 200mm, 300mm wafers. This site represents an estimated investment of $1.8B. Production had been targeted for 2028 before the project was cancelled.
