Initially a joint venture with Foxconn under India's Semicon India programme; Foxconn withdrew from the JV in August 2023. VSPL has continued to seek an alternative technology partner. Plans call for a 40nm CMOS fab producing 40,000 wafers per month at full capacity, with a planned Phase 2 upgrade to 28nm. As of mid-2025 the project had not reached financial closure or broken ground. Note: the active Dholera fab under construction is separately led by Tata Electronics / PSMC. Key facility details include: The facility is situated at Dholera Special Investment Region, Gujarat, India. It focuses on Logic / Foundry and 28, 40 process nodes on 300mm wafers.
