Overview
Infineon Kulim is Infineon's first Asia-based front-end power fab, officially opened in September 2006 with a US$1 billion investment and maximum capacity of about 100,000 200mm wafer starts per month. A newer 200mm silicon carbide (SiC) fab on the same Kulim Hi-Tech Park site ("Kulim 3") began Phase 1 operations in August 2024 (EUR2 billion investment, 900 jobs), with a Phase 2 expansion planned (up to EUR5 billion) aiming to become the world's largest 200mm SiC power semiconductor fab.
