Infineon Melaka, opened in 1973 as part of Siemens' semiconductor group, is Infineon's largest backend manufacturing site, with a workforce of nearly 11,000 in the Batu Berendam Free Trade Zone assembling and testing discrete, power and logic semiconductors. Malaysia is the only location outside the USA and Europe where Infineon runs fully integrated manufacturing, with the Melaka backend complemented by the Kulim front-end fab.
