Nexperia's wafer fab in Manchester (Hazel Grove, Stockport), UK. Per Nexperia's own manufacturing page it is 'the dedicated TrenchMOS wafer fab ... the original home of our power MOSFETs,' running 6-inch and 8-inch lines and building on 'a semiconductor legacy of more than 50 years at the site.' Semiconductor manufacturing at Hazel Grove dates to a GEC germanium-transistor plant established there in 1956; in 1962 Mullard and GEC formed Associated Semiconductor Manufacturers, and in 1972 production moved to the current factory on Bramhall Moor Lane. The site later passed to Philips Semiconductors / NXP and, from 2017, to Nexperia. It specialises in power-MOSFET wafers. (Nexperia's third UK/European front-end site, Newport in Wales, was divested in 2023 and is tracked separately.)
