SwaySure Technology Shenzhen Fab
Overview
A 12-inch (300mm) DRAM fab under construction at Xiangshan Science and Technology Park in the Longhua district of Shenzhen, targeting an initial 28nm node with a planned capacity of 140,000 wafers/month. SwaySure Technology (SWX) is officially owned by the state-backed Shenzhen Major Industry Investment Group (SZMII) and describes itself publicly as a niche memory chip developer for wearables, automotive electronics, and set-top boxes, with an R&D team spanning China and Japan. Industry reporting (DigiTimes and others) separately and more expansively describes SWX as part of a network of ostensibly independent "shadow fabs" that Huawei runs behind the scenes to build domestic DRAM supply and reduce exposure to US export controls, without any public corporate link between Huawei and SWX. The project, registered in March 2022, has recruited a former TSMC fab director as CEO, continuing a DRAM strategy associated with the late Yukio Sakamoto, former Elpida Memory president. Key facility details include: The facility is situated at Xiangshan Science and Technology Park, No. 1 Guiping Road, Fucheng Street, Longhua District, Shenzhen, Guangdong, China. It focuses on DRAM and 28 process nodes on 300mm wafers. This site represents a production capacity of 140,000 wafers per month.
