Nisshinbo Micro Devices' wafer fab in Fujimino City, Saitama, Japan, formerly the semiconductor 'mother factory' of New Japan Radio Co., Ltd. (JRC, founded 1959). Nisshinbo Micro Devices Inc. was created on 1 January 2022 by merging New Japan Radio and Ricoh Electronic Devices into a single analog/power IDM under Nisshinbo Holdings. The Kawagoe plant is a rare front-end wafer fab in Japan's Kanto region: it runs a 5-inch silicon analog line (0.7 micron and larger geometries) together with 4-inch gallium-arsenide (GaAs) RF lines (0.3 micron+) and surface-acoustic-wave (SAW) filter lines (0.4 micron+), making analog ICs, RF switches, low-noise amplifiers, front-end modules, SAW filters and sensors.
