Overview
Renesas Takasaki Factory, in Takasaki, Gunma Prefecture, is one of Renesas Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.'s five Japanese front-end fabs (alongside Naka, Kawashiri, Saijo, and Kofu), tracing its semiconductor lineage to the Hitachi/Mitsubishi Electric heritage that formed Renesas Technology in 2003. It runs a 150mm (6-inch) wafer line making analog ICs (amplifiers, comparators, data converters, voltage regulators, power management ICs, sensor signal conditioners) and discrete power semiconductors (BJTs, MOSFETs, IGBTs, diodes). On July 31, 2026, Renesas announced it will phase out production over the next two to three years, citing aging manufacturing/utility equipment with no viable upgrade path, disappearing supply of key process materials, and the end of maintenance support for 6-inch tooling; affected products will be transferred to other Renesas fabs or discontinued, with the site's R&D functions for analog ICs and power semiconductors retained and strengthened afterward. Key facility details include: The facility is situated at 111 Nishiyokote-machi, Takasaki-shi, Gunma 370-0021, Japan. It focuses on Analog / Power on 150mm wafers.
