United Nova Technology (UNT) Shaoxing - Phases 1-3
Overview
The main wafer-fabrication campus of United Nova Technology (UNT), in Gaobu Town, Yuecheng District, Shaoxing, Zhejiang. UNT was founded on 9 March 2018 as a joint venture between SMIC and the Shaoxing government, originally named Semiconductor Manufacturing Electronics (Shaoxing) Corporation (SMEC); it listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange STAR Market on 10 May 2023 (688469) and was renamed United Nova Technology in November 2023. The main-project completion ceremony was held on 19 June 2019 (first-phase investment about 5.88 billion yuan) and mass production of main products began in March 2020. Its process platforms are MEMS, IGBT, MOSFET and analog ICs on 8-inch (200mm) lines, complemented by a newer 6-inch and 8-inch silicon-carbide (SiC) MOSFET line (engineering batch April 2024, mass production from 2025). By the end of 2023 UNT had become China's largest and the world's fifth-largest MEMS foundry and China's largest maker of automotive IGBTs. Phase 1 was planned for an annual output of about 510,000 8-inch wafers; with all of Phases 1-3 ramped and the planned Phase IV fab, UNT's total capacity approaches 400,000 wafers per month on an 8-inch-equivalent basis.
