BYD Semiconductor Jinan operates through subsidiary BYD Jinan Energen Semiconductor, in which BYD acquired a 77.75% stake for CNY 5 billion (~US$775 million) in 2021 (Energen was originally co-founded with Foxconn in 2018). Energen invested CNY 6 billion (~US$0.9 billion) building fabs in the first phase of a three-phase plan. It produces 8-inch silicon and SiC chips, with the Jinan government holding a minority stake.
