Overview
GF Fab 9 in Essex Junction (Burlington), Vermont is one of the world's original 200mm (8-inch) fabs, on a site founded by IBM in 1957. GlobalFoundries acquired it in 2015 as part of the IBM Microelectronics business. It has become a center of excellence for RF-SOI, silicon germanium (SiGe) and gallium nitride (GaN) technologies on 180nm, 130nm and 90nm nodes at roughly 40,000 wafers per month, supplying wireless, automotive, defense and critical-infrastructure customers.
