Overview
UMC Fab 12A in the Southern Taiwan Science Park, Tainan is UMC's first 300mm fab and was Taiwan's first 12-inch facility, established in 1999 and in volume production since 2002. It runs mature and specialty nodes from 40nm down to 14nm, with total capacity above 87,000 wafers per month after successive expansions (the Phase 5 & 6 groundbreaking was held in 2012). Key facility details include: The facility is situated at No. 18, Nanke 2nd Rd, Xinshi District, Tainan City, Taiwan 741. It focuses on Automotive / Specialty, Logic / Foundry and 14, 22, 28, 40, 14, 22, 28 process nodes on 300mm wafers. This site represents a production capacity of 87,000 wafers per month. Production at this facility commenced in 2002.
