Overview
UMC Fab 12X, operated by United Semiconductor (Xiamen) Co., is a three-way joint venture between UMC, the Xiamen Municipal Government and Fujian Electronics & Information Group, and was southern China's first 300mm foundry. Following a March 2015 groundbreaking it held its grand opening in November 2016, reaching volume production about 20 months after breaking ground. It runs 28/40/55nm processes with a design capacity of 50,000 wafers per month. It focuses on Logic / Foundry and 28, 40, 55 process nodes on 300mm wafers. This site represents an estimated investment of $6.2B and a production capacity of 50,000 wafers per month.
