Overview
Yongin Cluster Fab 2 (Y2), the second of SK Hynix's four planned fabs at the Yongin Semiconductor Cluster. SK Hynix's board approved 35.2 trillion won (an estimated ~US$24.8 billion, derived from the combined two-fab approval figure) on 7 August 2026 for Y2, targeting production of next-generation DRAM including high-bandwidth memory (HBM) for AI applications. Construction is scheduled to begin in July 2027, with the first cleanroom targeted to open in June 2029; investment is to be phased through October 2031. Key facility details include: The facility is situated at Yongin, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. It focuses on DRAM on 300mm wafers. This site represents an estimated investment of $24.8B. Production at this facility is expected to begin in 2029.
SK Hynix Yongin Semiconductor Cluster
A planned 4-fab mega-cluster (~KRW 120 trillion / ~$90B masterplan) intended to grow into a global AI semiconductor production base; Y1 is the first of four fabs to break ground, with Y2 the second.
* This is a sum of all 2 facility phases (current & planned).
