Overview
SMIC Jingcheng (SMBC, Semiconductor Manufacturing Beijing Corporation) is a $7.6B-phase-1 300mm fab in the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area, a joint venture with the Beijing municipal government targeting about 100,000 wafers per month at 28nm-class and older nodes when fully ramped. Pilot production began by the end of 2022, and volume production followed in 2023 after a delay of one to two quarters caused by US export controls holding up bottleneck equipment. The line has since ramped 28nm output well beyond pilot level, leaning increasingly on domestically made tools. Key facility details include: The facility is situated at BDA, Beijing, China. It focuses on Logic / Foundry and 28 process nodes on 300mm wafers. This site represents an estimated investment of $7.6B and a production capacity of 100,000 wafers per month. Production at this facility commenced in 2023.
