Overview
SMIC Shanghai Fab 1, in the Zhangjiang Hi-Tech Park of Pudong, was the company's founding fab. SMIC was established in 2000 by Richard Chang (Zhang Rujing), and construction of this 8-inch (200mm) line began that year; it helped establish mainland China's modern pure-play foundry industry. Fab 1 runs mature logic from 0.35-micron down to 90nm, with a capacity of around 100,000 wafers per month. Key facility details include: The facility is situated at No.18 Zhangjiang Road, Pudong New Area, Shanghai, China. It focuses on Logic / Foundry and 350, 180, 130, 90 process nodes on 200mm wafers. This site represents a production capacity of 100,000 wafers per month. Production at this facility commenced in 2000.
