Overview
SMIC Xincheng (SMSC, Semiconductor Manufacturing South China Corporation) is a $2.35B 300mm fab in Pingshan District, Shenzhen, built as a joint venture with the Shenzhen government under a March 2021 agreement. It targets about 40,000 wafers per month at 28nm-class and older nodes. Per SMIC's Q4 2022 results announcement, the Shenzhen fab entered production by the end of 2022, the first of SMIC's four new mega-fab projects to do so.
