Micron Fab 11

Overview

Micron Fab 11 in Taichung, Taiwan is a 300mm DRAM fab, formerly Rexchip Electronics (a Powerchip/Elpida joint venture). Micron gained ~89% control of Rexchip in July 2013 through the Elpida acquisition; the Hiroshima and Rexchip fabs together then produced more than 185,000 300mm wafers per month. Now operated as Micron Memory Taiwan. The fab began operating under Rexchip in 2007, when Powerchip sold its 12-inch Fab R1 to the joint venture for NT$7.97 billion (~$240 million); by late 2007 Rexchip was producing about 30,000 wafers per month at the Houli site, with expansion toward 70,000 wafers per month planned for the first half of 2008. Under Micron's internal numbering the former Rexchip plant is Fab 16 (Micron Memory Taiwan); Micron began volume production of 1-alpha node DRAM at its Taiwan fabs in 2021 and announced plans to bring EUV tools to Taichung for the 1-gamma generation.
