Samsung Yongin National Industrial Complex - Fab 1
Overview
The first of six fabs Samsung plans at the Yongin National Industrial Complex in Namsa, south of Seoul. Originally announced in March 2023 as a system semiconductor cluster, the first plant is now reported to focus on memory chips for AI infrastructure. Site preparation is scheduled for the second half of 2026 and fab construction from 2027, with operations targeted for 2029, one to two years ahead of the original 2030-2031 schedule. Key facility details include: The facility is situated at Namsa-eup, Cheoin-gu, Yongin-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. It focuses on Memory on 300mm wafers. Production at this facility is expected to begin in 2029.
