TSMC Fab 5 was the company's third 8-inch (200mm) fab, located in the Hsinchu Science Park. Built from 1995, it began volume production in the late 1990s on 0.35-micron logic technology and now runs mature nodes from 0.35-micron down to 0.15-micron, with a capacity of about 48,000 wafers per month. It focuses on Logic / Foundry and 350, 250, 180, 150 process nodes on 200mm wafers. This site represents an estimated investment of $1.4B and a production capacity of 48,000 wafers per month. Production at this facility commenced in 1997.
